The Indian Green Building Council (CII IGBC) visited the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development (CIED) at the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST). The visit offered an excellent opportunity for architecture students to engage with IGBC representatives, who introduced them to various green building projects and sustainability schemes endorsed by the council.
The session was inaugurated by Prof. Parvez A. Mir, Director of the CIED-IUST Foundation, who warmly welcomed the IGBC members. Prof. Mir expressed his enthusiasm for fostering collaboration between industry professionals and academia, emphasizing the importance of sustainable practices in the built environment.
The interaction aimed to broaden the students' knowledge of sustainable architecture, energy-efficient buildings, and the advantages of adopting IGBC standards in designing and constructing green buildings. The session provided valuable insights into green building principles, encouraging students to prioritize environmental sustainability in their future professional endeavors.
The primary goal of the visit was to educate architecture students, along with future architects, engineers, and other professionals, about the principles and practices of green building. The event underscored the importance of innovation and sustainability in architecture and served as a platform for students to learn about industry best practices and standards.
This initiative by IGBC aimed to inspire students to integrate sustainable design approaches into their work, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to contribute meaningfully to a greener future.
