Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) J&K visit CIED-IUST Foundation

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Jammu & Kashmir Branch office, visited the CIED-IUST Foundation on the eve of National Startup Day. The delegation was led by Shri Tilak Raj, Director and Head of the BIS J&K Branch.

Dr. Basharat Nabi Dar, Coordinator of EDC/CPMSB at CIED-IUST Foundation, warmly welcomed the delegation and provided a brief overview of the activities at CIED-IUST. He also explained how the various initiatives of CIED and IUST align closely with the mission of BIS in equipping teachers and mentors with the tools to inspire students in quality education and standardization.

Members of the delegation presented an overview of BIS and the standardization ecosystem in the country. They discussed the significance of research projects in standard formulation, BIS’s digital initiatives—such as becoming a member of technical committees, proposals for new standards, and guidelines on Research and Development projects by BIS, among others.

The visit highlighted the importance of collaboration between BIS, academic institutions, and startups to build a more robust entrepreneurial ecosystem. It emphasized the need to pair innovation with regulatory compliance, ensuring sustainable growth and success for emerging businesses.
