A 3-day capsule program for early-stage start-ups on the promotion and sustainability of tourism was organized by CIED-IUST Foundation in collaboration with SIDBI and KPMG from 22–24 August 2024. The program took place at the Directorate of Tourism, Srinagar.

The inaugural session was chaired by Mr. Raja Yaqoob, Director of Tourism Kashmir. In his address, he emphasized the vast opportunities within the tourism industry in Jammu and Kashmir, highlighting the state's significant potential for those involved in the sector.

Prominent speakers included Prof. A. H. Moon, Dean of Academic Affairs at IUST; Prof. Parvez A. Mir, Director of CIED-IUST Foundation; Mr. Malik Waseem, Deputy Director of Recreation at JK Tourism Department; Mr. A. P. Vicky Shaw, Chairman of PHDCCI Kashmir; and Mr. Raouf Trumboo, President of the Travel Agents Association of Kashmir (TAAK).

The primary aim of the 3-day program was to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of effective promotion strategies and sustainable practices within the tourism industry. This initiative aimed to empower start-up entrepreneurs with the knowledge and skills needed to enhance their business operations, positively impact the environment, and support local communities. The sessions likely covered industry trends, marketing strategies, sustainable tourism practices, and methods to improve visitor experiences.

The program structure ensured that participants gained an in-depth understanding of both promotional strategies and sustainability practices, enabling them to integrate these aspects effectively into their tourism businesses.

Overall, the workshop was highly significant for tourism sector entrepreneurs, offering valuable insights and practical knowledge to enhance their business strategies and operations.
