GEM Workshop

A one-day workshop on the Government E-Marketplace (GeM) for entrepreneurs was held today at CIED IUST Foundation under the direction of Prof. Parvez A. Mir, Director of CIED.
In the inaugural session, Prof. Parvez A. Mir provided an overview of GeM and its purpose. He engaged with participants and highlighted the importance of GeM in the procurement processes of government departments.
Mr. Syed Abdul Basit, Coordinator of the ATAL Incubation Centre, conducted a brief session on GeM, sharing insights on public procurement and its advantages. He explained how to register as a buyer or seller on the platform, detailing the different user roles and permissions. Mr. Basit also provided a step-by-step guide on navigating the GeM portal and outlined the requirements and procedures for vendors to list their products or services. Additionally, he informed participants about the buying process on GeM, payment procedures, and compliance regulations.
The GeM workshop aimed to equip young entrepreneurs with practical skills and knowledge on using the GeM portal, an essential tool for managing business finances effectively.
The workshop was facilitated by an experienced trainer specializing in the GeM portal, who shared a wealth of practical knowledge. Through interactive learning activities and personalized guidance, participants gained practical skills that are directly applicable to their entrepreneurial endeavors.
