A team from Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), comprising seven members, visited the Islamic University of Science & Technology (IUST) and delivered sessions in various departments on employability skills and developing an innovative mindset to address societal problems. The team was coordinated by Dr. Majid Koul and his team.
Dr. Koul emphasized that the era of robotics and artificial intelligence should now be integrated into the micro and small-scale industries in J&K. He stressed the students' responsibility to identify micro-level problems in local industries and contribute to developing effective solutions. He also discussed the importance of knowledge, skills, and attitude in current educational pedagogy and the role of experiential learning in becoming employable at a global level.
This session was a pivotal opportunity for students to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world applications, offering unique insights into the practical aspects of electronic engineering. The industrial experts provided students with firsthand knowledge to develop employability skills, enabling them to launch entrepreneurial ventures across the state.
During the session, students were given a comprehensive overview of the BEL facility. The session was structured to enhance the students' innovation and creativity capabilities, addressing employment generation issues. The interactive engagements with BEL engineers allowed students to gain valuable knowledge about machinery, safety protocols, and operational efficiencies critical to the industry.
The session not only broadened the students’ understanding of engineering but also highlighted the department’s commitment to delivering high-quality education aligned with industry requirements and local needs. The collective efforts of the team made the experience enriching and successful. More than 60 students participated in the session.
