The inauguration of the five days JK Trade Show was attended by various dignitaries, including the Governor of J&K UT, Shri Manoj Sinha; Chief Secretary of J&K, Atal Dulloo; Commissioner Secretary of Industry & Commerce, Vikramjit Singh; Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri; IGP Kashmir, V. K. Birdi; Managing Director of JKTPO, Khalid Jahangir; Heads of Departments; and other officials and industrialists.
These trade shows cover a wide range of industries and offer valuable opportunities for business entrepreneurs to network, showcase products, learn about industry trends, and explore new business opportunities. The co-partners of the event included SIDBI, Khyber Cement, SBI Bank, and J&K Bank.
The presence of the Lt. Governor signifies official recognition and support for the artisans, weavers, growers, and entrepreneurs participating in the event. It demonstrates the government's interest in promoting and showcasing their skills, products, and contributions to the local economy.
The trade show featured a multitude of Geographical Indication (GI)-tagged products, such as carpets, saffron, paper mâché, rajmash, kani shawls, Basoli paintings, pashmina shawls, walnut wood carvings, sozni embroidery, Sula honey, and Khatamband, among many other exquisite items of Kashmir's handloom and handicrafts. The event not only celebrated the rich cultural heritage of Kashmir but also played a crucial role in fostering economic development by promoting GI-tagged products and traditional handicrafts, positioning the region as a hub of cultural and economic significance.
The Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development (CIED) at the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), Awantipora, Kashmir, was involved in the Jammu and Kashmir trade show with three business stalls at the exhibition.
Over the five-day event, several stalls from CIED IUST Foundation were featured, including a jam stall, jelly stall, Shalimar Bakery, and Gr8 Sports Bats.
The Jammu and Kashmir Trade Show 2024 concluded with a grand closing ceremony hosted by JKTPO, where all stakeholders, influencers, exhibitors, partners, and sponsors were honoured. Each day included captivating cultural performances showcasing the rich art and culture of Jammu and Kashmir.
The trade show was hailed as a resounding success, with exhibitors achieving sales exceeding Rs. 1.3 crore and generating numerous valuable business leads. Participating exhibitors and partners expressed their utmost satisfaction and gratitude for the warm hospitality extended by Jammu and Kashmir, emphasizing that the event was not only memorable but also highly productive for all involved.
