The Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) hosted a delegation from the National Institute for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (ni-msme), Government of India, led by Dr. S. Glory Swarupa, Director General, to discuss collaboration in skill development, business incubation, innovation readiness, and strengthening the industry-academia interface.
Welcoming the delegation, Prof. Shakil A. Romshoo, Vice Chancellor of IUST, highlighted the university’s efforts in fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and skilling under NEP-2020. He emphasized IUST's focus on emerging technologies such as AI, ML, Robotics, and Quantum Computing and its ongoing initiative to establish a Centre for Industry 4.0 in collaboration with the Ministry of Heavy Industries, one of ten such centers nationwide.
During the visit, an MoU was signed between IUST and ni-msme to formalize their collaboration, marking a significant step toward promoting innovation and entrepreneurial opportunities in the region.
Dr. S. Glory Swarupa praised IUST’s initiatives and outlined ni-msme programs that could benefit regional entrepreneurs. Prof. A. H. Moon, Dean Academic Affairs, discussed IUST's collaborations with institutions like SIDBI and IITs and highlighted new programs tailored to Industry 4.0 requirements.
The delegation also met with representatives from PHDCCI Kashmir, SIDBI, and regional business leaders, followed by a tour of IUST’s facilities, including the Design Innovation Centre (DIC), High-Performance Computing lab, and e-Yantra lab. Additionally, an Expert Talk on Investor Awareness was delivered by SEBI and BSE officials, alongside faculty presentations showcasing IUST’s achievements and initiatives.
